How to set up the bridge deck

The bridge deck (also called the roadway slab) is directly used for the structure that carries the pressure of the vehicle wheels. Generally, the reinforced concrete slab can also be applied to the transverse prestress for the larger span of the bridge deck to make the prestressed concrete slab. According to the characteristics of the boarding force, the peripheral support plate with the aspect ratio equal to and greater than 2 is usually regarded as a unidirectional load bearing plate (ie, unidirectional plate) that bears the load from a short span, and only needs to be properly configured in the long span direction. Some distributed steel bars are sufficient. The length-to-width ratio is less than plate 2, and then the design is based on the peripheral support plate (or two-way plate). In this case, it is necessary to configure mutually perpendicular stressed steel bars according to the internal forces in the two directions. The current trend of bridge design is to sparsely arrange diaphragms, so the spacing between beams is often much smaller than that of transverse bulkheads, and most of the deck slabs are unidirectional. Under normal circumstances, the two-way volume steel bridge deck paving is large and the structure is more complex, so it should be used as little as possible.
For common T-beam bridges, two situations may also be encountered. One is that when the end edge of the flange plate is a free edge, it can be analyzed as a cantilever plate with a solid cross embedded along the short end and a free end at the other end. The other is a structure in which adjacent flange plates are made into hinged joints at the ends. In this case, the bridge deck should be calculated as a hinged cantilever plate with one end embedded and one end hinged.
