The Bailey pin is a standard component, and its dimensions must precisely match the pinholes on the Bailey truss panels.
Diameter: This is the most critical dimension. It must maintain an appropriate fit tolerance (typically a transition fit or a minimal clearance fit) with the pinhole. It should be easy to insert yet must not have excessive clearance that would compromise load-bearing capacity. The common standard diameter is approximately 49.5mm.
Length: It must be long enough to penetrate through the pinholes of all the truss panels being connected and allow for the installation of the safety cotter pin. The required pin length differs for single-row and double-row connections.
